Team
Led by three founders below, our team can call upon a wide range of designers, influencers, medical experts, occupational therapists, parents, caregivers and people with disabilities.
Dr. Jo Gooding (she/her)
is an educator and researcher. She is knowledgeable in inclusive design and the challenges facing design-led innovation. She is committed to using her skills and knowledge to effect change. Her passion for supporting adaptive designers comes from personal experience of a chronic pain condition during her first job tutoring fashion students.
Jo is an alumna of Northumbria University and the Royal College of Art. She is a Zinc fellow, a member of the Global Disability Innovation hub’s expert bench, and a signatory to the design manifesto “Super Normal Design for Extraordinary bodies.”
Judith Cook
is the founder of Elba London, a lingerie brand that offers contemporary bras designed specifically to make dressing easier thanks to the innovative Elba EZ magnetic fastener. With an extensive background in international PR & marketing, her journey into adaptive fashion came about via a friend’s arthritis diagnosis, and her frustrations in shopping for a bra that was easy to put on/do up, and also looked good.
She is passionate about sharing her business and entrepreneurial experience, and how to make mainstream fashion more inclusive and democratic for people of all abilities.
Jessica Ryan-Ndegwa
is a designer, and the founder of Design for Disability. Her mission is to champion a more inclusive society. Jessica was born with cerebral palsy and after studying and practicing product design for a number of years, began to see how people with disabilities were noticeably absent from the creative process, even when it came to designing products that might aid their lives.
Jessica has worked with The Design Museum, Tate Exchange, Interbrand, The National Maritime Museum, The Courtauld Institute of Art and Shape Arts. She is also a trustee of Stage Text, a deaf-led charity, making culture accessible to all.
